I’ve been riding for Roxy for 8 years now, so my life is mainly spent lugging a boardbag around airports and traveling to various places, from Norway to Tahiti, Brighton to Fiji. I get to surf with some pretty remarkable characters, and go to some incredible places.

Me surfing at home
This week has been my first week at home (in North Devon) for ages, following a fortnight in France at the Roxy Jam World Longboard Championships, and a fortnight in Portugal at the Atlantic Watersports Games. Portugal was pretty entertaining, and with local North Devon boy Ben Howorth taking gold I’m sure it will be worth a write up!
It’s been an average week for waves around this coast, with typical English wind and rain. I spent all weekend surfing with Croydes Laura Crane, Billabongs latest hot little ripper, who’s been in training for the British Juniors next weekend. She has recently got herself a spot on the British Junior Team for the Worlds in New Zeland, and after finding out rolled around her bedroom floor in a frenzy and ended up with some very severe carpet burns.

Croydes Laura Crane
Laura and I had quite a few sessions at Croyde but all were pretty mediocre, and we also put in some good time at ‘P-Land’. Standout surfer was Nick Lloyd who’s recently created a ‘facebook group’ to celebrate his love for Putsbourgh,‘Croydes inbred cousin’. I’m sure none of you will be bored enough to look at that!
On Monday I had my ears moulded for a spanking new pair of Surf Plugs (www.surfplugs.co.uk/ check it out) in the hope of preventing the inevitable ‘Surfers Ear’ from getting me! They’re custom moulded and you choose your own colours which obviously took me an age!
On Friday I’m off to Portrush in Northern Ireland (not very exotic) and next week I’ll be joining ‘Britain’s Best Aerialist.’* Reubyn Ash on the Billabong Still Filthy Tour. Reubs will be fresh back from the WQS 6* Azores Island Pro in time for the release of Billabongs new international movie, in which he has a couple of waves. Check out his fan page on Facebook or his mental footage on Youtube.
