DC skate photographer Mike Blabac exhibition coming to london to mark book launch

Posted by Soulsports HQ on July 21st, 2009

Legendary skate photographer Mike Blabac has released his first book “Blabac Photo - The Art of Skateboarding Photography” which documents 20 years of skateboarding history.

There are 224 pages of stunning images in a big, cloth-bound book. Blabac has been DC’s skate photographer for 10 years and has documented some historic skate monents including Danny Way’s jump over the Great Wall of China.

“In my opinion, Mike has shot some of the most memorable photos in skateboarding, and he has played an integral part in shaping the look of DC,” says Ken Block, Co-Founder and Chief Brand Officer of DC. “Some of Mike’s skateboarding photos for DC’s ads were so strong that we just ended up running them full bleed with almost nothing else in the ad.”

To mark the launch and pay homage to Blabac, DC is releasing a limited edition shoe - the Blabac Azure Mid shoe. There’s also a global DC tour where there’ll be a gallery showing of Blabac’s work in six cities.

The tour stops in London from July 23 to 31 at the Maverick Gallery at 68-72 Redchurch Street, E2 7DP. The gallery is open from 11 to 6 Monday to Friday and 12 to 4 Saturday and Sunday.

A Killer Guide to Surf Culture

Posted by Soulsports HQ on June 23rd, 2008

The book is available now from all the usual suspects and is lovingly brought to you by Dogstar/September (creators of Adrenalin, Stranger Magazine and the September Project) and Bantam Press.
It’s a colourful beast, featuring 300 pages and over 300 images by some of the greatest photographers and artists to ever train their sensibilities on surfing.

If you’re in the British Isles, it’d be great to see you down at the launch party at the Sandsifter, in Godrevy (Cornwall) on 19 June. We’re having a little shindig. Should be fun.
