Identifying a decline in wintersports school trips as a
major contributor to the drop-off in snowsports participation, Soul Sports
formulated a tour of secondary schools around the UK to take snowsports
directly into the classroom and raise awareness of the accessibility of
local snowsports facilities.
Secure provision of free introductory lessons for eager
school children to then participate through partnerships with the UK's leading
artificial slopes.
Create an online lesson registration system for participants and implement the Ride & Slide Days at the slopes.
Devise promotional opportunities for key snowsports industry sectors to encourage cooperation, support and promotional items with which to create a strong package that helps engage, enthuse and retain participants
Great geographical spread across the 8 UK regions from Aberdeen to Plymouth
10,270 secondary school children presented to directly, plus 12,000+ indirectly
2,154 participants through introductory lessons at the Ride & Slide days
8,071 players of the associated online snow sports game ‘Suicide Summit’
Database of all participants submitted to artificial slopes for targeted marketing
Subsequent school affiliations formed with artificial slopes increasing footfall Nationwide, through the implementation of snowsports’ clubs to meet with School Sports Coordinators’ club partnership criteria and facilitate retention
Paul Hallinan, President of Snowsport Industries of GB (SIGB) "The SIGB our proud to be associated with such a professional and dedicated management team. The production and execution of our schools tour has been outstanding, both myself and all other SIGB committee members are looking forward to working with you again on our next project"
Katrina Smith – Manager, Aberdeen snowsports centre "The schools tour team that were here last weekend are a credit to your organisation and the sport! Their enthusiasm, energy and personalities certainly played a major part in the success of the Ride & Slide days. The team mixed well with all the kids ensuring that they enjoyed their lesson, but most importantly that they had fun and want to keep learning. We have had a good response, so far, for lessons from the weekend’s participants with most kids taking away information on further lessons and will use your database to hopefully encourage any of those who have not yet committed to come along again and become 'hooked' as we all hope!"
Hamish Tom – Principal Teacher of Extra Curricular Sport,
James Gillespie's High School "During morning and lunchtime break
the Snowlife Schools Tour delivered a presentation at James Gillespie's
High School in Edinburgh. Approximately 150+ young people were entertained
with video footage of incredible snowboarding and skiing activity throughout
the world. A cross-curricular slant was introduced when the young audience
were encouraged to pursue their learning of German or French as second languages.
Information was always available from the experts who were the elite of
their sport in this country. When gifts were given free, this delight was
only surpassed by one boy who won a bag full of videos, T-shirts and stickers
in a free raffle. This was a first time event in our school but we look
forward to hosting another presentation in the knowledge that such events
enrich the life and experience in our school."
