His mum and dad named him George but anybody around the world who follows mountain biking knows him as Gee, Gee Atherton. In 2008 he won the biggest prize in mountain biking taking Gold at the 2008 World Championships, proving he truly is the best in the World.

His climb to the top started at age 15 when selection for the under 18 British team came early. The following year the experience paid off and Gee collected a silver medal at the World Champs. Since then Gee has stood on event podiums around the world.

Gee is regarded as one of the world’s most talented and versatile bike riders, his main discipline remains Downhill but he can also lay claim as a freeriding heavy-weight; highlighted by his 2nd place at Red Bull Rampage. His all-round bike skills and profile have secured Gee international acclaim, and an appearance on BBC’s Top Gear to boot.
