Skier Questionnaire

How old where you when you first began skiing?

It was the summer in between my first and second year at high school, I think I was about 12.

What/Who got you into it?

There was a ski trip running to America at my school the PE department. I remember my dad going away skiing when I was younger so I thought I’d sign up and give it ago. I learnt at the dry slope in Sheffield and kept skiing after the school trip to progress to where I am now.

What type of ski's do you use?

I’ve been riding on Line skis for around 5 years… I prefer stiffer skis in the pipe and softer ones for kickers for more pop!

What length ski's do you use?

Skis around 180cm are my preferred size and maybe a bit bigger for powder around 185cm.

Favourite Resort:

LAAX, Switzerland or Mammoth, USA both have amazing parks. I like Iceland Park Project for the views, sick park and as a spring time destination. I also like the Davos/Klosters area for abit of pow, there are never any ques. I also love St. Anton and Stuben, thats where I've had the most fun and best snow so far!

How many seasons have you done?

5 so far straight out of school! 3 Europe and 2 in NZ...

Where have you done your seasons (including the year)?

My first season was in Serre Chevalier, France. I traveled around lots, about 8 other countries, to film 2 TV series I was in that year ‘Snow Patrol – Discovery Channel’ and ‘RAD – Groms Ride The Rockies’ – C5. This season I’ve spent in Laax training hard and taking road trips to various locations for photo shoots, competitions and filming with RCP (Regime Change Productions). Including Poland, Iceland and Norway. I’m also heading down to the southern hemisphere to New Zealand to train for the up and coming winter and to hit up some comps and magazine shoots!

Where was you favourite trip and why?

I really enjoyed the RAD Groms trip last season. I was traveling with a great crew with lots of comedy and hyper energy! This year I had quite an experience in Poland, good and bad but it was well worth the trip!

What do you love about Skiing?

I love the people you get to meet and the chance to travel all over the world! It’s so much fun, though hard work at times it all pays off to see your movie section or photos from the season.

What's your goal within Skiing?

My main goal within skiing is to have fun and enjoy myself. I like doing photo shoots and filming and riding in comps, so another one of my goals it to be as successful as possible. Riding in the Olympics is one of my goals, whether it’s an event or just an introductory sport would be super.

What aspect of Skiing gives you the most satisfaction (powder, kickers, Halfpipe, Competitions, Big Air, Cliff drops etc

I really like filming. A good crew and a good day riding, you can’t beat it! Chris Asquith who I mainly film with for Regime Change is great to hangout with and ‘work’ with he makes it so easy! Also you get to see what you put all your effort into at the end of the winter with a movie section. A session with friends in the pipe or on the kickers is awesome too, or a day shredding with Slavemonkey in the trees is good fun too!

What style of Skiing best descibes your riding (include a couple if you want)?

I hope its quite fluid and stylish, maybe a little sketchy sometimes and I like to tweek my grabs.

Favourite Trick:

I enjoy 5’s. Switch, straight, corked, in the pipe, lots of different grabs etc…

What's you scariest Skiing moment?

Streets rails are always scary! I’m getting more confident but every new street rail I stand at the top of my heat beats so hard! We were in Iceland this year doing a 4 kink rail about 35 feet long with hardly any snow. There was about 3 metres from drop in, run up and kicker which gave you about 1.5334 seconds to think about what was happening after you dropped in from the 7 ft wall/dropin! I was soooo scared for about 3 quarters of the session...

What's your top safety tips when Skiing?

Know your abilities and limit then know when to stop… I think that’s an important tip.

Give someone some advice:

Go skiing! Find the snow and have fun! You’ve only got one life so enjoy it.

General Questionnaire

What are your other interests?

They all mainly revolve around skiing, hanging out with friends, watching movies, trampolining, a little cooking, traveling, chillin’, a bit of design and taking pictures.

Where would you like to see yourself in the future?

Still skiing I hope, for as long as I can. So working hard to get some good movie sections and some good comp results. And of course enjoying myself and having fun.
