Skier Questionnaire

How old where you when you first began skiing?

I was 14 when I first tried skiing at Sheffield Ski Village.

What/Who got you into it?

My friend, Matt, had been on a school ski trip to Austria and couldn't stop talking about it when he got back. I decided to go the following year and took some lessons at our local dry slope. Once my feet touched the snow in Austria, I was hooked. When I got back from the trip I kept skiing regularly at Sheffield.

What type of ski's do you use?

I ride Rossignol Scratch FS and Scratch BC skis.

What length ski's do you use?

My Scratch FS are 180cm and my Scratch BC are 182cm.

Favourite Resort:

I don't really have a favourite at the moment. I like to visit new resorts and go exploring there.

How many seasons have you done?

I have done 2 full winter seasons.

Where have you done your seasons (including the year)?

2002/2003 - Chamonix 2001/2002 - Val d'Isere

Where was you favourite trip and why?

It would have to be the Fall Line Ski Test in Zermatt in 2002. I met loads of nice people, had an absolutely brilliant time, and learnt of Ross Woodhall's inimitable wit. The highlight of the trip had to be Ross McCloy (from Rossignol) stage-diving head first into the bar.

What do you love about Skiing?

Everything. The lifstyle, the mountains, the beer. It's all good.

What's your goal within Skiing?

I just want to keep pushing myself and keep having fun.

Journalist Questionnaire

How old where you when you first began writing for publications?

I did some work writing for a few websites when I finished University. I would have been about 22 then.

What/Who got you into it?

Fate, I guess. It just kinda happened.

Who do you work for?

I am the Managing Editor of Dark Summer, which is a new freeride ski magazine in the UK.

What sort of articles do you like writing?

Fun ones. I hate to read articles that just drone on. I much prefer to read something a little lively and funny, so that is the kind of stuff I like to write.

Favourite trip for a publication?

Not made any trips for the magazine yet, except going to Xscape Castleford. That was fun!

General Questionnaire

What are your other interests?

At the moment I don't seem to have very much time to myself, but when I do I will usually do some photography, mountain biking, and lots of drinking.

Where would you like to see yourself in the future?

To be honest, I don't know. I haven't made any kind of plans before in my life and it has got me here (a long way from where I would have expected). Wherever I end I just want to be having fun.

Realistically, what will you be doing in the future?

I expect I will wind up as professional Morris Dancer, travelling the world and enjoying all the Morris Dancing groupies. I can't wait.

Who are your idols?

I hate this question because it is far to hard to single out people when there are so many that have done so much. I guess anyone who does something because they love it will always have my respect.

What music are you into?

I like most music. When I am skiing it is usually Rap, Hip Hop or Punk. When I am working it is usually chilled out clubby stuff or some Latin Jazz.

What's your favourite book?

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

What's your favourite film?

Ocean's Eleven

What's your favourite quote?

"Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most" - Ozzy Osbourne

Best cocktail, shot or drink?

When I was in Val d'Isere I got hooked on Jack Daniels and Coke.

What's your most prized possession?

My friends

Thanks to:

Everyone who has helped me get this far. This includes family, friends, sponsors and everyone else. Mentioning names will mean I will only piss off the ones I forget to mention.

Anything else you want to say?

No
